R. W. (Kas) Kastner 1928-2021
As the news of his passing circulated amongst the Friends of Triumph, the folks who have been doing what we do for longer than anyone wants to admit have been chiming in on how influential Kas was in their success on track. The common denominator is our world would not be the same without Kas Kastner.
Kas wrote an article in 2019 that sums up his career in the post-Triumph era, a must-read for those who do not know the story. http://kaskastner.com/how_it_all_happened.html His article ends with Kas mentioning his wife Peggy got him to go to a vintage race a few months after the Nissan era ended. Our guys from E-Ticket Triumphs still remember the day, it was a VARA Tustin Thunder race, when Kas was spotted in their pits looking at all the Triumphs when Paul Smock recognized him. The rest is history.
Kas Kastner wrote the Factory Competition Manuals in the day. He has since written 4 books on the subject of Competition Triumphs. Information on the books is available on his website, www.kaskastner.com.
